Biography

Alan is a proud URI alum and the CEO of Sparkpr, one of the largest independent technology PR agencies in the world, which is currently ranked #53 in the ‘Top 100 US Agencies’ by PRWeek.

During Alan’s tenure, Sparkpr’s revenue has more than tripled, the company has broadly expanded its client base, opened new global offices, and has won numerous industry awards, including the coveted TechCrunch “Crunchie Award” for Best Technology PR Agency, The Holmes Report “Technology Agency of the Year” and recognized as a “Best Place to Work in The San Francisco Bay Area” during 2010, 2011 and 2012 by the San Francisco Business Times.

Alan’s broad range of technology and consumer experience is complemented by his passion for spotting new market trends and business opportunities. Alan’s perspective is integral to our philosophy: he looks at things from the outside looking in, reminding us of what the average consumer will react to, as well as what a business client wants and expects.

Prior to joining Sparkpr, Alan served as chief corporate strategist for MTI Inc., a leader in the research and development of alternative energy technologies, and earlier as president of MTIs micro fuel cell subsidiary – MTI MicroFuel Cells. Previous to MTI he was instrumental in the successful IPO of Tripath Technologies, Inc., while vice president of the consumer electronics and broadband chip company.

Alan was also general manager of Philips Mobile Computing Group, where he grew Philips portable digital mobile products business from startup to a $100M global supplier. In addition, Alan has held a number of other key executive positions directing marketing, sales, product development and business unit management for industry leading technology and consumer companies.
