Biography
Dr. Rana Hassan is a Part-time faculty member at the Harrington School of Communication and Media. Previously, she worked as a Lecturer in the Middle East (Qatar) for more than 13 years in the Strategic Communication track. She received her Ph.D. in Media and Sociology from the University of Northampton, UK in 2018. Dr. Hassan’s research focuses on Cyber-activism, citizen journalism and women’s political empowerment in the Middle East during revolutions. Dr. Hassan’s academic experience includes teaching various courses related to public relations, media and society and social marketing, in addition to cultural communication and media in a global context. Hassan’s publications focus on women’s portrayal in media and social media use during social and political turbulence. She is currently teaching production and presentation in addition to communication fundamentals courses at URI.
