Brittani Sahm joined the communication studies and public relations departments at URI in September 2018 as a Lecturer. Prior to joining the Harrington School faculty at URI, she was a doctoral student at the University of Florida, where she earned her Ph.D. in Mass Communications in August 2018.

At UF, Brittani was a teaching and research assistant for the Advertising Department while completing graduate school. She taught in online and traditional classroom settings, with an emphasis on topics of media ethics and advertising research. Brittani was also an active researcher at UF, serving as a student consultant on the Audience Insights Team, conducting qualitative and quantitative projects for Google Germany and the German sport marketing group, S20.

Prior to her work in academia, Brittani worked in several collegiate sport information departments. Before returning to graduate school, she spent two years at Washington and Lee University as a sport information assistant, where she was responsible for press coverage, social media messaging, press box management, and league-wide communications for nine Generals’ varsity sport teams. Brittani’s current research interests align with her experiences in the sport communication realm though a focus on digital media behaviors of sport fans.

Brittani was also a collegiate track and field athlete at the State University of New York College at Cortland, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Management.
