Students enrolled in Strategic Media Communication (PRS442) analyzed the influence of social media among college students, and looked at how URI uses social media to attract and retain students. See their findings here
Public Relations Students Collaborate with the Jonnycake Center in Peace Dale, RI
Celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2013, the Jonnycake Center provides an invaluable array of services to the local community. From a food pantry offering healthy choices to clothes and furniture, the Jonnycake Center has made an impression in the South County community. Public Relations students assisted with the planning of the 40th Anniversary Celebration by creating a video to stream on the website for the Jonnycake Center; designed a timeline to capture the essence of this organization; suggested possible logo and branded message for the 40th Anniversary Celebration.
Public Relations Students hold Annual Baby Shower for the Jonnycake Center
Concepts learning in the classroom were illuminated in facilitating a successful Baby Shower to benefit local mothers who frequent the Jonnycake Center. Public Relations students managed all aspects of a baby shower (e.g., event management, media relations) generating more than 100 baby gifts to be donated to local mothers for their children. This effort is one example of our students making a difference in the local landscape.
