Hands-on fieldwork forms an important component of the Film/Media student experience. We encourage all students to explore the possibility of a semester long or summer internship. Internships are an excellent way to gain relevant knowledge, skills, and experience to support what you learn in the classroom while establishing important connections in your field.

Participating in an internship is a great way to put classroom learning into practical experience. While engaged in the supportive environment of an internship you can test career goals, enhance professional skills, develop self-reliance, self-esteem, and responsibility. Furthermore, internships encourage networking with professionals and will provide increased marketability for employment after graduation. Below are two options for earning internship credits. Consider meeting with your academic advisor before making a final decision regarding which option is best for you.

FLM 401

•Permission of department chairperson
•Minimum 18 credits of the courses required for the major
•2.5 cumulatie GPA or higher
•Application and learning contract completed and approved before the start of the internship

•Field experience in Film Media
•Earn from 1 to 6 credits (Graded)
•Structured academic work in a business,
industry, educational or agency setting
•Under faculty supervision

ITR 302/304

• 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher
• Minimum 60 credits prior to internship
• Available free elective credit
• Good academic and social standing

• Earn between 6 and 15 free elective credits
• ITR 302 (field experience) 3-12 credits (S/U Only)
• ITR 304 (seminar) 3 credits (Graded)
• Seminar offered online and in class (in class –
spring only)
