Q: What are you doing after graduation?
After graduation, I am moving to Marquette, Michigan, where I will be a morning news co-anchor for WLUC/TV6 News in Negaunee!

 

Q: Describe the process of getting your job.
I got my job by applying on Gray Television’s website, where I went through about 2-3 weeks of interviewing and meeting the station’s staff. I received a phone call with the offer shortly after.

 

Q: How has Harrington prepared you for your plans?
Harrington has given me multiple opportunities to explore my interest in journalism as well as subgenres (such as broadcasting and climate reporting). I created a professional reel which helped me get this job offer. 

 

Q: What are you most proud of from your time at URI?
I am most proud of the work I have completed in my last two semesters at URI. I have created a professional broadcast reel, a multimedia story covering shorebird population decline using ArcGIS Story Maps, and I have written a piece about Varroa Mites affecting beehives that is about to be published on ecoRI News’ website as a feature. 

 

Q: What is your favorite Harrington memory?
My favorite Harrington memory is being able to meet Vlad Duthiers, Errol Barnett, and Lana Zak at CBS through a Harrington field trip to New York City. 

 

Q: Is there anything else you would like to share?
Get involved with clubs on campus! I was able to work for the school newspaper and was the founder and president of the URI Entomology Club. I had a blast being so involved on campus, and it gave me not only some brownie points on my resume but a lot of friends.
