URI Alum Herman Rose donates funds for editing suite, TV studio

By Emma Rohnstock

Herman Rose, URI Class of ‘70, recently awarded a generous $75,000 gift to the Harrington School of Communication and Media to name the Herman Hillson Rose ’70 Video Editing Suite in the Harrington Hub at Ranger Hall. In addition, Rose invested in the Harrington School’s upcoming project to transform the historic TV Studio in the Chafee Social Science Center into a high-tech video production and broadcast center. The new, state-of-the-art center, which involves about an $800,000 renovation, will open in August 2018. All Harrington students will be encouraged to take advantage of the renovated video production and broadcast center and develop highly marketable skills in broadcast and/or production. It will be one more way the Harrington School will prepare its students to become future leaders in communication and media. Collectively, our Harrington students and faculty say “Thank you, Herman Rose”.
